College Policies & Student Guidelines
Christ College Shillong maintains these policies to ensure a disciplined, respectful, and productive academic environment.
1. Institutional Objectives
- To promote critical, rational, and factual thinking among students.
- To encourage innovation, creativity, and research activities.
- To develop leadership qualities and social responsibility.
- To promote environmental awareness and cultural preservation.
- To provide opportunities for higher education, skill development, and placements.
- To ensure the holistic growth and well-being of students.
- To address grievances of students and stakeholders effectively.
2. Attendance
- Attendance is compulsory for all classes and college activities.
- Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance to appear for examinations.
- Leave applications must be submitted to the Principal through the concerned authority.
- Students absent continuously for one month without permission may have their names removed from the College Register.
- Re-admission, if permitted, will require payment of the prescribed fees.
3. Discipline and Campus Conduct
- Wearing of College ID Cards is mandatory during class hours and while using college facilities.
- Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited.
- Students are expected to maintain discipline and respectful behaviour within and outside the campus.
- Consumption of alcohol, drugs, gambling, theft, or any unlawful activity is strictly prohibited.
- Use of mobile phones and electronic gadgets during classes and examinations is prohibited unless permitted.
- Students must cooperate in academic, cultural, social, and community activities organized by the College.
- Hostel students shall not leave the hostel without prior permission from the concerned Warden.
- Any act damaging College property or affecting the reputation of the institution will invite disciplinary action.
4. Dress Code
General Guidelines
- College uniform is compulsory on all working days.
- Only black closed footwear is permitted with the uniform.
- On Wednesdays, students may wear modest and decent casual attire.
- Clothing with offensive or inappropriate language, symbols, or images is prohibited.
For Boys
- Hair should be neat and properly maintained.
- Only full-length trousers are allowed.
- Shirts/T-shirts must be half-sleeved or full-sleeved.
- Earrings, slippers, and caps inside classrooms are not permitted.
For Girls
- Dresses and tops must be modest and non-transparent.
- Sleeveless, backless, and low-neck dresses are not permitted.
- Short skirts, half pants, and low-rise jeans are not allowed.
- High heels, slippers, and excessive accessories should be avoided.
5. General Rules
- Students must follow all rules and regulations of the College.
- Any form of misconduct or indiscipline will invite disciplinary action.
- The College reserves the right to amend or modify the rules whenever necessary.
