Principal’s Message Dr Alice Mathew (Sr. Grace Rose CSST)

Christ College, Shillong, is a new initiative taken by the Carmelite Sisters of St.Teresa (CSST). Our foundress Servant of God, Mother Teresa of St.Rose of Lima’s watchword, “Forward Sisters, Forward ” has enlightened the sisters to reach out and start the college for higher education in the North-East region. It began its journey officially on August 12, 2022.

Education enlightens, empowers, and helps individuals make the right choices in their lives. It opens the window to new horizons; it opens windows of opportunity; and it blossoms its buds into a beautiful flower. Through higher education in Umeit, we want to bring changes in the lives of the people by providing quality and value-based education to make the boys and girls strong, vibrant leaders, instil in them the love and compassion of Christ, and mould them into outstanding, mature students. We wish to provide the best education with its inclusiveness, and we want our students to achieve their best and inculcate in them a love for nature as we live surrounded by its scenic beauty. We want them to love and respect their culture, their traditions, and their love of nature. We also want to remind them of the effects of global warming, to safeguard the environment, and develop the state without harming nature. Along with academics, we also aim for holistic development, a pure conscience, and to demonstrate resilience, determination, and strength of character.

We are looking forward to start all the streams in the future following the guidelines of NEP 2020 and to prepare the students to face the challenges of the future for a better tomorrow. I look forward to welcome and seek God’s blessings on each and every student who enrols here. May the Lord bless all those who come to the campus and may they experience the eagerness to learn, to enjoy, and to become better person and a social catalyst. God bless each one of us.
